If you’re like me, you’ve probably found yourself spending more and more time in the world of Web3 – the decentralized, blockchain-driven ecosystem that’s transforming everything from finance to gaming to art. And if you’re really like me, you’ve started to realize that this isn’t just a passing phase – it’s a way of life. Living, working and literally breathing Web3 a 101 guide.

As a 33-year-old working full time in Web3, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of living in this rapidly evolving landscape. On the one hand, it’s incredibly exciting to be at the forefront of a movement that’s reshaping our understanding of value, ownership, and trust. On the other hand, it can be isolating, confusing, and at times downright stressful.

One of the biggest challenges of the Web3 lifestyle is the sheer amount of information and jargon you have to keep up with. Whether it’s new DeFi protocols, emerging NFT platforms, or the latest updates to the Ethereum network, there’s always something new to learn. And because Web3 is so decentralized and community-driven, there’s no one-size-fits-all source of information – you have to rely on a patchwork of forums, Twitter accounts, and Discord channels to stay up to date.

But the rewards of being a part of the Web3 ecosystem are equally significant. For one thing, there’s a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that comes with being part of a community that’s trying to build a better, fairer world. Whether you’re collaborating on a DAO, investing in a promising new project, or simply geeking out with fellow enthusiasts, there’s a sense that you’re part of something bigger than yourself.

And then there’s the potential for financial gain. Let’s be real – one of the main reasons many of us are drawn to Web3 is the possibility of getting rich quick. And while there’s certainly a lot of hype and speculation in the market, there are also real opportunities to generate meaningful returns through smart investments, yield farming, and other strategies.

Of course, there are also plenty of risks and downsides to the Web3 lifestyle. As with any emerging technology, there’s always the possibility of scams, fraud, and other forms of exploitation. And because the Web3 ecosystem is so new and untested, there are plenty of unknown unknowns – risks that we simply can’t anticipate or prepare for.

But for me, the benefits of living and working in the Web3 world far outweigh the risks. I love being part of a community that’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and I take pride in knowing that I’m contributing to a movement that has the potential to create real, positive change in the world.

In the meantime it’s a sad reality that in this new industry, many companies seem to have forgotten that their most valuable asset is their people. Candidates who apply for Web3 jobs – often highly skilled, passionate individuals who are eager to contribute to this exciting new industry – are frequently left in the dark, with no response to their applications and no indication of where they stand in the hiring process. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional, but it’s also short-sighted – by failing to treat candidates with the respect and attention they deserve, companies are missing out on the opportunity to attract and retain top talent, and are ultimately hurting themselves in the long run. It’s time for companies in the Web3 space to step up their game and start treating candidates with the same level of care and consideration that they would want for themselves.

So if you’re thinking about taking the plunge into the Web3 lifestyle, my advice is to go for it – but do so with your eyes wide open. Take the time to educate yourself, build relationships with other members of the community, and above all, stay humble and open to learning. Because in a world that’s changing as fast as Web3, there’s always more to discover, and always more opportunities to grow.
